Admission Pathway and Resident Criteria
Parkway Home Plus shall admit only those persons whose physical, mental, and psychosocial needs can be met within the accommodations and services available in our center. Each resident is admitted under the care of a physician licensed to practice in Kansas. We do not accept children under the age of 16. Our admission process is thoughtful, collaborative, and supportive.
- Resident Screening: Before admission, a licensed nurse, social worker, or administrator will conduct a functional capacity screening, ensuring Parkway Home Plus can meet the individual’s specific needs. All findings are documented in compliance with state guidelines.
- Service Planning: The screening results help our team customize each resident’s service agreement, outlining specific care and daily support. This ensures each resident receives personalized, appropriate care.
- Negotiated Service Agreement (NSA): Upon admission, a written NSA will be developed with the resident and their legal representative or family. It will outline the services provided, who delivers them, and who covers the cost if services come from external providers.

- Daily Meals & Snacks: Residents are served three nutritious meals and two snacks daily, all prepared with dietary needs and preferences in mind.
- In-Room & Communal Entertainment: TVs are available in common areas; personal TVs can be brought into rooms. Residents are responsible for any upgraded cable services.
- Reading Lounge: Stocked with newspapers and books reflecting diverse cultures, fostering lifelong learning and leisure.
- Crafts & Hobbies: Volunteer-led sessions in arts and crafts help residents express creativity and develop new skills.
- Exercise & Movement: Programs like Tai Chi, stretching, and mild yoga promote mobility, balance, and overall well-being.
- Mind Games & Puzzle Area: Residents are encouraged to participate in activities that stimulate cognitive function.
- Social & Spiritual Time: Activities include bible study groups and board games like bingo and checkers to nurture community bonds.
- Outdoor Enrichment: Seasonal gardening, park visits, and picnics give residents a chance to enjoy nature and stay active.
What Are the Fees for Short-Term Respite?
Short-term respite care at Parkway Home Plus is offered at $300 per day. This includes lodging, meals, basic care, and access to our full activity schedule. It’s an ideal option for families needing temporary support or relief while ensuring loved ones are cared for in a safe, welcoming environment.
How Long is a Short-Term Stay?
Short-term stays require a minimum commitment of five (5) days. This allows our team to provide proper onboarding, assessments, and the best possible experience for the resident. Extended stays can be arranged based on availability and need.
