Background Checks
Must be completed before starting employment and every 1.5 years thereafter. This includes:
- KDADS Criminal Record Check
- DCF Adult Abuse Registry Check (APS)
- DCF Child Abuse Registry Check (CPS)
- KDADS Nurse Registry or Non-Licensed/Non-Certified Individuals Check
- Office of Inspector General (OIG) Exclusions List Check
- KDOR Motor Vehicle Screen (only if transporting clients)
Automatic Disqualification
Individuals cannot provide care if any of the following appear on a background check:
- Criminal prohibition
- History of abuse, neglect, or exploitation in an adult care home
- Listed in the Kansas Child or Adult Abuse Registry
- Listed on the OIG Exclusions Database
Health Requirements
- Must have a 2-step TB skin test or a negative chest x-ray within the last 5 years (signed by a physician)
- A TB Questionnaire must be completed at the time of hire and annually
Training Requirements
- Initial training must be completed at hire
- Ongoing in-service training per Parkway Home Plus guidelines
